This card takes place from the Videotron Centre in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada. Heading into this bout Beterbiev is the champion and puts it on the line against former world champion Smith. These two were meant to step into the ring together earlier, but dental surgery postponed the match setting the stage for a new year championship fight that has the potential to be one of the best of the year.

Beterbiev (19-0) enters this fight not only undefeated, but with 19 knockouts closing out every opponent with one last blow. This is his eighth title defense since winning the championship back in 2017.

For Smith (29-1), he is a former Ring Magazine and WBA super middleweight world champion. He has since moved to light heavyweight over his last three fights, losing to Canelo Alvarez in 2020 in his debut and winning his last two fights since then. Now he has the chance to make it three in a row while adding gold around his waist.

Also on the card today is a WBO bantamweight title fight between champion Jason Moloney (26-2) and Saul Sanchez (20-2) along with seven additional undercard matches to fill out the rest of the event.
